Business Development Manager


Richard Brothers Financial Advisors (“RBFA”) is hiring a Business Development Manager to join our team in Portland, Maine.
The Business Development Manager’s primary responsibility is developing new relationships that deliver High Net Worth Individual (“HNWI”) clients to the firm. This position is responsible for the execution of RBFA’s defined sales process from sourcing new leads to lead qualification to successfully closing new HNWI client business.
The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Client Onboarding Specialist in the lead generation and lead qualification process to achieve RBFA’s goal for Discovery Meetings. This individual will also collaborate with the Financial Planning and Operations team to execute Capabilities Meetings and establish new relationships to the firm. This individual will also effectively engage the new relationship to work with the lead Relationship Manager who will deliver comprehensive financial plans, investment advice and insurance solutions based on understanding client needs that lead to a successful close of the HNWI. This position reports to the President and is also responsible for working with the Chief Operating Officer and Operations Director to ensure all compliance criteria are met.


Job Duties

Attain new HNWI and sales goals set by RBFA each year:

    • 2021: 10 new HNWI/$20M in assets
    • HNWI defined by the firm as clients with $5 million or more in net worth and over $2 million in investable assets
    • Generate 50 Discovery Meetings per year
    • Goal of 40 Outreaches and 25 Connections per week
    • Achieve an initial opportunity to close rate of >15%

Target and develop new leads based on ideal fit for RBFA services. This includes developing, nurturing, and closing new relationships through the following:

    • Executing marketing initiatives including emails, campaigns, and social media posts
    • Conducting workshops or seminars
    • Attending network and community events to build brand awareness and grow contacts
    • Gathering competitive data and understanding demographic changes in the targeted market

Attend bi-weekly 1-on-1 review meeting with President and COO and be prepared to share the following:

    • Weekly call and event activity
    • Progress against monthly, quarterly, and annual new revenue goals
    • Successes and obstacles from previous week
    • Progress against KPIs/Scorecard
    • Goals for the upcoming week/month including support needed on meeting preparation
Additional Responsibilities

    • Develop pipeline of business utilizing your personal network, referral partners, lead generation services, and existing lead lists from company marketing
    • Build key partner and prospect network via LinkedIn and direct communications
    • Conduct Exploratory Calls with prospective clients and qualify them as opportunities for RBFA
    • Conduct effective Discovery Meetings with prospective clients to identify needs, complete Financial Scorecard, and analyze results
    • Use RBFA selling materials to design and deliver high-impact presentations that show our unique differentiators
    • Create value propositions that meet the prospective client’s needs
    • Work with Operations to successfully onboard new HNWI clients
    • Attend weekly RBFA company meetings and give updates on Sales Scorecard, Issues and assigned tasks to support the team.
    • Follow all the steps in the RBFA Sales Process and enter all existing and new account activity into Redtail. Maintain all customer data, sales activity, and accurate monthly forecasts in Redtail
    • Support the Vision and Mission of Richard Brothers Financial Advisors and represent the company with integrity


Job Qualifications

    • BA/BS Degree (business or finance is preferred)
    • 4+ years of successful sales experience closing relationships in financial field required
    • Current FINRA Series 65 or 66 required
    • Current life and health license or ability to obtain in 3 months
    • Existing client book transferrable within 2 years is preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent persuasion and sales abilities
    • Excellent telephone and video conference skills
    • Process-oriented including a demonstrated track record of following a sales process
    • Demonstrated record of quota attainment
    • Strong analytical skills – financial analysis and forecasting
    • Collaborative, team-oriented, and works well cross-functionally and across team
    • Desire to work in an environment that rewards results and loyalty and maintains high ethical standards
    • Self-starter and focused on self-development
    • Outgoing personality who can develop a network of referral partners and new client prospects to facilitate growth

    • Computer skills including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, GoToMeeting or Zoom, Redtail or CRM equivalent.
