Golf Tournament Benefiting Good Shepherd Food Bank
On August 14th, Richard Brothers Financial Advisors hosted our 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the beautiful Purpoodock Club. What a milestone it was! This year’s event brought together clients, partners, and friends for a memorable day on the fairways. It was filled with camaraderie, competition, and community spirit.
Thanks to the generosity of our players, sponsors, and volunteers, we’re proud to share that the tournament raised nearly $10,000. This supports the Good Shepherd Food Bank and its vital mission to end hunger in Maine.
A Day of Golf, Giving, and Gratitude
Our annual tournament is more than a day on the course. It’s a tradition of giving back and making a difference. From morning registration to the final putt, the energy was incredible. Participants enjoyed a day of friendly play, great food, and the satisfaction of knowing that every swing was helping put meals on tables across Maine.
This year’s theme, “Swing for a Cause – Every Round Brings a Meal Closer to Home,” captured the heart of what this event represents. It was about community members coming together to help neighbors in need.

Food insecurity remains a serious challenge in Maine. According to Good Shepherd Food Bank:
- 1 in 8 Mainers struggles with food insecurity.
- 1 in 5 children lives in a household without consistent access to nutritious food—the highest rate in New England.
- Many rural communities face limited access to fresh, healthy food options.
Good Shepherd Food Bank partners with nearly 600 hunger-relief programs statewide. It distributes millions of pounds of food annually to pantries, schools, and community organizations. Every dollar raised through our tournament helps expand access to nutritious, culturally relevant foods. It supports the Bank’s mission to ensure all Mainers have the food they need to thrive.
